If the audience is paying to watch, that does mean royalties are due, and these are not related to profit. However, it depends on the percentage of the work being performed that is mine - if the whole evening is solely my monologues then it would be right to pay a % of the box office receipts. However, if it is only a small percentage of the whole evening then I would only receive a small percentage of that percentage and would be willing to waive it for a non-profit event. Do credit the book though, in the programme or somehow, that would be great, thanks. I hope you enjoy performing them. A must see was Abby doing extracts from her new book and it was a joy to be there. The simple relaxed way she explained which ones she would be performing or passing by would smoothly change, with the help of a few props and an accent change, so that there would be a different person on stage with a story to tell. The passion she has for what she does comes through in these characters and I was left wanting more and so got the book! At the book signing I mentioned it was really for the wife!
