About

Living and Active is the blog of Abby Guinness. The name comes from Hebrews 4:12 ‘The word of God is living and active…’ Abby believes in communicating Scripture with the all the living-active-breathing-moving-passionate vitality, creativity and beauty it deserves.

She has an English Literature degree from Sheffield University, an Acting postgraduate from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and has studied Theology informally over the years. It’s a trinity that has led her to explore contemporary culture as it relates to the Bible and vice versa. She has found a niche in Bible-based performance arts which includes acting, writing, directing, facilitating, teaching and quite a bit of organising. She also spends some time training others in communication skills.

Abby currently heads up the arts for Spring Harvest. Prior to that she was responsible for creative arts and all-age worship at Holy Trinity Brompton (where amongst other things she was known for presenting HTB News). She has also worked with Riding Lights Theatre CompanySprings Dance CompanyNew WineDetling and Greenbelt. A number of years ago she was a founder member of Lacey Theatre Company, originally working alongside Rob Lacey to tour the street bible (now The Word on the Street.) She remains very involved with the company, which continues to produce high quality, innovative theatre.

She enjoys sticking her fingers into as many pies as possible. Especially rhubarb ones.
